Meet Shantelle Alexandra

Intern Counsellor

Hi, I'm Shantelle. I'm currently completing  a Master of Counselling degree at City University in Vancouver, where I'm expanding my counselling theory, skills and competencies with a myriad of populations. Once I complete my supervisory hours through this internship, I will be a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Prior to pursuing a career in clinical counselling, I spent several years working as a preschool teacher. My background working with children and families has provided me with valuable insights into human development, attachment theory and the impact of early experiences in shaping our lives. I look forward to integrating these skills with new learnings to support adults dealing with a range of life challenges and concerns, while also nurturing the child that lives within each of us.

My goal as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental space where you can explore your inner world. In this journey, we are equal partners and I hold a deep commitment to embracing your unique life story with curiosity and gratitude. I act as a collaborator and a facilitator drawing upon diverse methods to empower you. As a client-centred therapist, we work with whatever you bring to sessions. I believe in tailoring therapeutic methods to meet your unique needs and goals.

As a student counsellor who is on a continuous learning journey, I will be working under the direct supervision of Heather Scott, MCP, RCC, dedicated to honing my skills in trauma-informed practice. You can check out her bio here

I invite you to take advantage of a complimentary 20-minute consultation as an opportunity for us to connect and explore how I can support you on your journey towards wellness.

I look forward to meeting with you!
